About Intelligence Bureau

The Intelligence Bureau (IB) is an internal intelligence service in India. It was reorganized by the Central Intelligence Service under the Ministry of the Interior in 1947. The reason for this perception was Major General Charles MacGregor, who was appointed in 1885 in Simla as Quartermaster General and Intelligence Chief of the British Indian Army.

In 1909, in response to the development of India’s revolutionary activities, the Indian Political Intelligence Office (IPI) was founded in England, which until 1921 was called “Indian Political Intelligence” (IPI) and was a state oversight and control office. It was administered by the All India Office of the Government of India, which was led by the Secretary of the Attorney General of the Indian Ministry and Director of the Government Intelligence Bureau (DIB) and maintained close contacts with Scotland Yard and MI5. The objective was to monitor the deployment of Russian troops in Afghanistan, fearing that at the end of the 19th century a Russian invasion of British India and the northwest would take place.
